Bright Solstice, 2022

For those who may not know or care, I am a practicing witch as well as a reverend, and I acknowledge that today, December twenty-first of 2022 is the Winter Solstice! That's a holiday among Pagan Folk and the third day of Hanukkah among the Jewish! Those who celebrate Christmas, today would be the Christmas Advent number eight, I believe? Haha, it's silly that I'm an ordained reverend under Yahweh but don't really know what day of advent this is.

Then again, most of the time, Christians give me far too much hatred for me to want to spread their message with them. I'd rather spread the message of peace and patience, things Yahweh wants of us. I digress.

Since I'm a witch, I appreciate the Winter Solstice. Not only is it where Christmas traditions originate from, but it's nature's transition from old to new. All that dies in the winter is reborn... different... but the same person. Each tree or hibernating creature is the same as it ever was, except it's somehow brand new... we can try again. Bringing in the new year, essentially.

Among witches, sacred holidays like Equinoxes and Solstices are times when celebration is never mandatory, but said to assist in magick and prayer, as celebration and song are wonderful ways to praise your deity. I, myself, thought of playing a bit of music tonight to celebrate a rather wonderful day I've had today. I hope to be able to one day be less shy so I can share it with others, too.

Reflection... how do you feel about this past year and what, realistically, would you change about yourself? Happy Holidays and stay safe and warm! -- Reverend J. Snow
