Todays song is Jasmine and Rose by Clan of Xymox
The air tastes just like you, it's the smell of June
A sensory shock that jolts my spirit, I slowly swallow you
A spray of little droplets, a fragrance so refined
The spirit of nostalgia is passing me by
Opium and poison, jasmine and rose
Dream of ambrosia, all flavours glow, it's sensual, it's sensual, it's sensual, sensual
It all began so easy, with you on the floor
Against your willing flanks and knocking down your door
Until the day it crumbled, no game of win and lose
You told me nothing, you left me confused
Expelled like poison, a trim of the dose,
A limb disposed of, in a whim she chose, so rigorous, she's vigorous
She's vigorous, she's vigorous.
Heart of the hardest world, it's just the thought of you
All those variations, the air is full of you
The smell of summer rain, once more the scent of June
This sweet concentration, brings me back to you
Opium and poison
My taste of June, my taste of you
Inhale, inhale your trail
Opium and poison, jasmine and rose, dream of escape with me, all flavours go
It's sensual, it's sensual, it's sensual, it's sensual
What was ours will drift away, a simple breeze on a humid day
Oh, nothing lasts, nothing lasts, nothing lasts, forever
I love the air of this song, starting off quite and creeping up on your ears. Its not too loud or quite but has a nice pacing that demands your attention and then pulls in the lyrics with a pleasant beat. The first part of the lyrics get me to feel like I'm in some ritual where past memories are replayed and enjoyed. The way the lyrics are delivered with the music just creates an atmosphere where i feel like I'm genuinely experiencing someone preparing a mix of fragrances. Still the memories of this past lover or friend seem to fade away into something bitter. Where the singer feels used and disposed of. The following lyrics describe the process of being left behind and no longer desired. Like a plant having its stems snipped off. And yet even when its all gone, they seem to be still reminded of this past relationship. The lyrics seem to be reflective of the changing seasons, from the bloom of summer, bringing the lovely scents of jasmine and rose. are replaced with opium and poison, an addictive toxicity. Where even after time has passed, they seem to be unable to move on from this encounter. Finishing the song with the lyrics that nothing lasts.
