25/09/2022 - Mt. Elephant + First Visible Plant Growth!

Been a little bit since my last blog post, I have a few updates. Today I went on a road trip with a few friends to Mt. Elephant, a giant grassy hill out in the country. One of my friends mentioned that he saw it as an underrated place to visit so on a whim we decided to check it out. It was a two hour car trip there, and it took about 20 minutes to reach the top, but it was worth it.

I definitely underestimated how physically exerting it would be going uphill, I had to sit down halfway because of how tired I got. I'm glad we did this though because we've also been talking about going hiking at some point, so I'm going to need to be more physically fit if I want to do that (I'll also need to invest in a giant water jug and some walking shoes, because wearing Vans on an uphill trek was another bad idea I had).

The view up there was really nice, but I think another part of it I enjoyed was how quiet it was up there. No city noise, no crowds, could barely even hear the cars passing by, it was just the wind and the wildlife up there. Really peaceful, I could've stayed up there for a long time if I wanted to (though the flies were really annoying, I made some muesli snack bars for the trip and they could detect the honey that I put in the snack bars).

The other update is that there's finally been some visible growth from the seeds I planted!
This one is the spring onion, but there was also a tiny little bud in the batch of basil that I planted too. It's a weight off my mind that the seeds are actually growing and what I've been doing is working so far. Right now I'm just watering them when the soil becomes dry, though to see if it's dry I have to dig underneath the surface a little bit to make sure that it's not just the surface that's dry, so I need to be careful to not disturb the growing seeds. I'm just going to keep up with that method for now, I think it will get easier when the plants grow more because then if they start to wither, that's a more noticeable indicator that they need to be watered.

Had a good day all in all, glad to catch up with my friends and share some things together. After the big walk uphill I'm definitely going to have a good rest tonight!
