how to tell when someone doesn't understand scene [ a response ]

WHAT IS SCENE?

Scene is a movement, subculture and an alt fashion. Alternative meaning it differs from the "normal" style that people normally wear.

HOW IS IT A MOVEMENT?

Scene is a movement due to the fact it isn't just an aesthetic. Scene is a movement against hyper-masculinity and mysonginists in the world of music, (calling women Scene queens whenever they sang/ liked the same genre of hard music).

WHAT IS SCENE?

the fashion

Scene, or "Scenecore" it can be called on other platforms, is a happy-stim neon rave blast of energy and energy drinks. An example of a scene kid on social media is @ZwambiKilla, (who fully inspired me to also be scene 24/7, as I started scene in late 2020.) who is a member on this platform.

EXAMPLES OF SCENE

Now, as you can see, scene is a colorful collection of nostalgia (specifically Nickelodeon, or the obvious Disney XD in the early 2000s, specifically Invader Zim/ Edd Ed and Eddy/ Spongebob/ any old colorful/creepy cartoon.) (NONE OF THESE PICTURES ARE MINE)

Obviously, you don't HAVE to have dyed hair or a bunch of I.Zim clothing, but it does help. Staples of this fashion can tow as follows.

  • Teased/Big hair

  • Bright/Dark colors (blue is a staple)

  • Cringe Culture themes (Glasses, Mustaches, Gir, Domos, ect)

  • Hand gloves

  • Monster energy (Is not recommended if you have heart problems/ cannot have a lot of sugar. Stay safe scene kiddos!!)

WHAT IS SCENE?

The history behind rawr X3

The term "Scene Queen" was a demeaning insult to women who sang in the hard rock genre, and from that spouted Scene. They took the insult and made it into a style, and Scene into a subculture of self discovery and enjoying fashion the way YOU want to. Yes, it's a clothing style, but it's also a movement. A community of people around the world of different ages coming together to fight against what people call the "norm" and the weight of the struggle that comes with trying to be perfect, perfect in this case meaning "normal".

MY RESPONSE TO ☆ UniCosmicCometCorn ☆'s BLOG

To start, your information is wrong. You said Scene "wasn't a movement" when it very much is.

(from Cosmic's blog)

(Aesthetic Wikipedia)

Also, you said homophobes can be scene, while it's true, it's not what scene is. Homophobes actively go against Scene's goal of acceptance and difference from the normal.

(cosmic's blog)

To mention even more, why would you even find it remotely okay to be homophobic and scene?

"Homophobes can be scene 2!!11!" yeah but they're homophobes. Homophobes are not welcome in the scene community, especially because a large percentage of us are LGBTQ.

Even this..

(again, cosmics blog.)

Yes, while that could be the case, it isn't anymore and it shouldn't be. Mind you the early 2000s was HELL for those who weren't white, cis or straight. Even today, 22 years later, it still is. So shut up, kindly.

So you're allowed to be a bigot but you have to like a band?? Thats bullshit.

Also, you're a beginner scene kid. Do not act as if you know everything.

In conclusion, you didn't do enough research and used your own opinions as fact.

“Scene isn’t ravey!1!1!1”
It’s literally based on nostalgia and raves. I get some scene shit is emo but god fuck that doesn’t mean it isn’t at all neon or rave-like. You could literally search up rave clothes and find some things that’d be good FOR scene.
