Had fifty bucks laying around, thought I'd nab myself a game, and Outlast was my choice.
One of the few games that actually slows me down, not from difficulty, but from fear.
The only other game I recall doing that was Deadspace.
Even worse is that I remember watching a playthrough of it, but that was a decade ago, so I remember very little of it.
Just enough to know vaguely when something is coming, but not enough to know what exactly. Honestly, I think that makes it so much more terrifying.
I was streaming it to a few friends. Apparently my strategy of flashing the night vision for a second then just walking blindly in the dark to preserve battery is a very unusual tactic to other folks. But hey, it works, and it WILL buy you a little extra time in some parts. At least, it feels like it helps.
Who knows, maybe I'm just being dumb lol. But hey, you can't just give me a resource to manage and not expect me to manage it to hell and back. I WILL preserve those batteries, and I WILL blindly stumble in the dark like a dumbass if it means I use one less battery than the average playthrough.
