All the Linux distros that I've tried (Part 2)

In previous part, we talked about how I discovered Linux and tried my first Linux distribution, Puppy Linux. In this part, we're going to continue talking about the other Linux distributions that I've tested over the years.

The second try (2020)

It's mid 2020, long time after my last (failed) attempt to install Mint, I had to install Ubuntu Mate 16.04 because Windows was too much heavy for the computer I was using at that moment.

On all the time using it, the performance was better than when it used Windows, so I continued using Ubuntu until the end of 2020 when I acquired a new Laptop that came with Windows 10.

Didn't wanting to install any other operating system on it because the warranty would be lose, I decided to stay with Windows.

The Ubuntus (2021)

The time passed, and Windows got me bored. I really missed the customization options, flexibility, and usage of Linux that Windows didn't had.

After trying to install Debian without success due to Firmware issues, I decided to do a dual boot with Ubuntu again, but the chosen flavor was Xubuntu instead of Mate.

Not many relevant things happened here apart from me testing many desktop environments, sometimes I switched back to Windows when I needed to run an application that wasn't available on Linux.

There were moments when my distro was changed, but in all of them an Ubuntu derivative was used: Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Elementary OS...

Arch Linux (2021-2022)

So I got sick of Windows and started finding Ubuntu boring, why don't try another distribution that isn't Ubuntu based?

OpenSUSE and Fedora used a very different installation tool from than Ubuntu, which made the linux-noob me unable to install them successfully.

I wanted something more harder, which me decide to try one of the "most complicated" Linux distributions, Arch Linux. I obviously made use of a guide that I found on the Internet.

I would continue telling you my experience with Arch Linux, but I think this is enough for now, stay tuned for Part 3!

Fedora uses Anaconda for it's installation which is... ok, it is really different from others, like Ubiquity from Ubuntu or Calamares from (for example) Manjaro.
If I remember correctly OpenSuSe uses Yast, which is a mixed bag. A lot of customization in installing different components, but also slow and well... old.

Waiting for another blog post from you ^.^
