The whole point of me leaving my current job is to find an employer that has their shit together, and I'm mostly looking for an environment that's less detrimental to my overall health.
So, I had an interview for a housekeeping position at a hotel this morning, but the manager who conducted the interviewΒ SHOWED UP LATE??Β That was a red flag right there; how did she arrive late to the interview that she scheduled with me lmfao.Β
During the ten minutes that I waited for her, I witnessed not one, but TWO guests approach the front desk and complain about things that were seriously wrong with their rooms. (A broken toilet that didn't get fixed the first time she'd asked, and a leaky sink + broken wall hook in another room.) I used the lobby restroom myself, and the restroom was so dimly lit and humid as all hell. Like, I felt like I walked into a hot, moist frog terrarium. Talk about gross. And the one singular toilet was broken and stuck on the fill-up cycle, so it was constantly running.Β Β
The lobby itself was hot and filthy, and there was a cushioned chair that was literally soaking wet. Like, a guest must have sat on it after getting out of a pool, and none of the staff seemed to notice or care.Β
The hotel manager who interviewed me had a very unprofessional demeanor and the whole fucking interview was just a bright, waving red flag. I eventually admitted that this was a waste of both of our time, and I left. I've never done that before, but holy shit I am not going to put myself through that haha. The job hunt shall continue.
