You bored? you need to pop open youtube and pop some shit on to melt your brain over? trust me, I know I do. thats what I used to do every day afterschool. Here are some content creators that I fucking adore. They are fucking amazing, and I can recommend almost all of their stuff.
#1: Zalinki
Also, this one song he wrote, Music for Sad People, was one of the things that kept me company during my worst time of depression. I've learned all the lyrics to it at one time, and could sing it by heart. Now, im in a better place, and forgot the lyrics, but I cant forget those days sitting in the rain, apathetic, listening to that over headphones and nodding my head.
But im not gonna link that song. Im gonna link this song called Pretend. I havnt dissected the words or the lyrics or the meaning yet, but ive heard it once after not thinking about this guy in forever and damn. It hits all the same. And hey, maybe its gonna be the new Music for Sad People.
heres the song: pretend
#2: Doug Doug
So. if Zalinki is some of my humor, his stuff the morbid side that is spiteful but witty and just a bit bizarre. Doug Doug's stuff is like inside joke humor mixed with a story mixed with a silly gaming challenge. Its "inside joke" humor because every single video has this like, one reoccurring joke that is almost a theme. It doesnt usually feel abrasive in execution, and is just plain funny. Maybe its ironic? maybe just wordplay? im not sure exactly which itch it scratches, but it definitely scratches my itch.
Doug is undeniably hilarious, but also really good with metaphors. He has this series, Explained with Food, where he goes through gaming topics and explains it with food. Know the topic or not, the metaphors are literal food for thought packaged in poetic perfection. It just is so... so delicious.
Here is one of my favorite videos of his, his current most popular video and a great introduction to his content. Its a voice program challenge where he has to beat a game without saying certain words. Surprisingly challenging and entertaining to watch.
the video: drag-on
#3: DeadlyComics
This little funky racoon man makes funny cartoons with seemingly deep backgrounds. Another bit of my soft worldbuilding itch getting scratched. His animations are both smooth and tell stories that Im obsessed with mulling over and decoding. Hell, theres a lot of animators that make original stuff to this level of high quality, but one of the things i love about Deadly is his use of music, as well as the seamless occasional transition between 3d and 2d. Eye candy for sure, lovely pieces of art for me to watch and consume. whenever his old stuff pops up in my reccomended, i stop whatever i was doing and go revisit some great films.
I dont buy merch for people, let alone little things like stickers. Never in my life have I wanted to buy a sticker more after watching this little cartoon. Give it a watch, and guess which sticker I wanted to buy.
the video for you: quarters
#4: Skurry
Little water dragon nonbinary fella who makes maybe the most calming comfort content ever. Its like, stream highlights of mostly Hollow Knight, Rain World, and Marbles, with the occasional other little game. Gosh, is their stuff addicting to watch. Its just so... peaceful? sometimes stressful stuff is happening on screen, but the calming voice and little cute reactions they have is just.... i cant haha, i love their stuff, their characters and their playthroughs. Skurry is priceless, love their shit to death. They are also really talented at videogames, dispite them mostly doing meme speedruns.
Here is one of their popular videos! I dont know if this video has some of the favorite quotes of mine, but if you want to have a cozy 40 minutes of gameplay to watch, sample it sometime.
the video: egg?!
