It was pretty vacant today at the preserve so I didn't really have to worry about dodging many obstacles aside from some horse dung sprinklings. As I made my way through the trail I smelled something foul. It could have even been a decaying fowl for all I know. The putrid pungency overloaded my highly refined olfactory sensory system. I pressed on through the aromatic torture (in retrospect that poor animal probably suffered a fate far worse than I did, bless it's soul) and I reached my destination of the enchanted mineral springs. I spent a few hours honing my skills on the gutter fiddle as I sat on the primeval boulders and absorbed the holistic healing properties of the ethereal atmosphere. A heron flew on by within close proximity to me. It's feathers were like that of a dark cloak adorned with blue embellishments. Passing spectators observed me from the trail above while I heard faint voices from behind emanating from no discernible source. A ghost or an auditory illusion? Maybe a little bit of both.
Eventually my urge to utilize the toiletry facilities increased and I had to disembark. As I crossed the road making my way back to the trail I realized I had forgotten my electromagnetic communicator device. I generally like to have it along in order to digitally capture any potential creatures or scenes of aesthetic value. I decided to cut my technological dependency shackles and continued on. I visited another portion of the preserve alongside the springs. I continued my gutter fiddle rehearsal while observing my surroundings. I noticed a spectator of an amphibious variety observing me from a hollowed out tree root. Judging by the expression on his face, I'm willing to bet that he's never witnessed a performance quite like that before. I was happy to provide him with a source of entertainment. Amphibians don't give me performance anxiety so I didn't encounter any mishaps that I typically face in front of a homo sapiens audience. I was disappointed that I wasn't able to take a picture of my little music fan in the tree root but events play out for a reason in the grand scheme of things. Perhaps if I had remembered my device the electromagnetic waves might have interfered with his natural sensory and he would have gone into hiding. All I know is that this was the path that I chose and the course of events played out as they did in this reality. Perhaps in an alternate dimension I was able to get that picture but I could have missed something else while being distracted by that sophisticated gizmo.
