Why I removed all of the electronics out of my acoustic guitars.

Anymore I find acoustics with the standard bridge pickup configuration under the saddle to sound like fingernails on a chalkboard. It always sounded way too compressed, sterile and lifeless no matter what EQ settings or what I ran it through. It kind of defeats the purpose of having an acoustic to me. I much prefer the organic approach.  I can understand the convenience of being able to go direct into an amp for shows or recording but tone is way too important to me to sacrifice. So recently I decided to strip out all of the excess electrical components and as an added bonus I gained additional sound holes on the sides which actually improved the resonance of the guitars considerably by comparison. I also considered experimenting with adding some drone strings or a chime or bell tuned with the frequency of my strings over or inside the cavity respectfully. However I don't have the means to do that right now it'll remain as is.

i mean it requires an acoustic amp if not for the electric internals it would have to be miced up when played live which is in effect what you're doing already with a pick up under the bridge (of in my case across the sound hole) that being said an acoustic plugged into a regular amp can sound way heavier than any actual electric guitar in fact on my track bloody epitaphs that's the guitar i was playing both for that reason and the reason that the tuning i used for that song was ridiculous if i was going to play it it was going to have to be on that one as the built in tuner is easier to use than the one i use for my electric

It's more so that specific kind of pickup "the piezo" type that I'm referring to. I think it sounds like garbage because it leaves out the essential component of the natural resonance of the acoustics. The pickup you're referring to or the mic'd sound allows for more of that. The guitars tone can breath fully rather than being choked off. It's a different animal.
