"NEXT STOP NEW YORK!!" said the septa train conductor. (a couple of weird memories from when I was 16)

When I was a freshman in high school I had some very eccentric and downright outlandish friends who probably played a role in me becoming the free thinking renegade that I am today. My 2 main friends were JJ and Mike. JJ was a pseudo punk rock non-conformist with random tourette's like tendencies. Mike was a big, tall tattooed biker looking guy that claimed he was possessed by an old cigar inhaling school duty aid lady that died from emphysema. He was also obsessed with big rigs. I never knew what to expect from either of them. Mike is also the one who I saw move a salt shaker with his mind and later threatened to kill me. So anyway, one day Mike and I were hanging out under a bridge by the railroad and a single septa train car kept stopping and starting. It eventually made it's way past us about 30 feet away from where we were sitting and stopped for a good 15 minutes or so. Suddenly the conductor proclaimed, "NEXT STOP NEW YORK!!" and with that they took off down the line. Mike said, "is this guy on crack?!" and I agreed. It was very bizarre especially because the Septa line doesn't even go as far as New York.
I have quite a few stories from that era but one that involved JJ occurred right before school. JJ lived in the apartments right behind the high school tennis courts and there was an area back there off of school grounds where all of the badass smokers gathered. I didn't smoke but I hung around them. So one day early into my sophomore  year the new disciplinarian Mr. Randoff came out and scolded us bad kids for being there even though it was out of his jurisdiction because technically it wasn't on school grounds. So as JJ and I made our way to the school building the old disciplinarian Ron Wenzel from last year was standing on the curb with a briefcase while checking his watch and looking around. As JJ walked by him he asked. "What are you doing, waiting for a bus?!" Ron just gave him this bug-eyed stare and I laughed hysterically.

Perhaps maybe you had to be there but both incidents still make me laugh to this day. Shortly after that time during my sophomore year we had a falling out, with rumors being spread and drama which lead to harassment and threats from Mike and eventually JJ. The remainder of my time in high school afterwards up until my senior year (which was somewhat better) I was a miserable loner that suffered from harassment from my piers which also had a lasting impact on who I am today.

i guess i'm not the only one who has received death threats from friends honestly not even sure why that even surprises me though seems like with so many people in the world at least 1/5 had to of had a similar experience what is more surprising though is after last year that's now 2ce it's happened to me the 1st time is quite a story i might tell some time but i'm on good terms with that guy now the one threatened last year so you can probably guess i'm not on good terms with him right now i dont think either is what lead me to be a free thinker though i kinda just got there on my own i never could trust authority figures in elementary and middle school i was often suspended for fights in which i was only protecting myself from my bullies these same authority figures would decorate the school with posters and banners about being an anti-bullying zone too they would say i could go to them but usually when i did i'd still be in trouble even into my adult life authority figures never changed you're a free man they say as they hand you a list of victemless crimes they'll arrest you for doing you have the right to defend yourself they say as they put you before a judge for not even throwing a single punch but shoving an attacker off of you if anything i think thats where i developed my punk attitude and with that free thinking just came naturally i always question authority and would prefer there be no authority kings deserve to be dethroned no man should answer to another if you get what i mean

Yeah that side of me was always there I think to an extent but like everything else in my life I think it played a role in developing who I am today for better or worse. I can remember back to 4th grade I would chose not to participate in activities that everyone else did. One memory I had of the school mascot Cubby the Bear coming in the middle of class and parading around and the teacher said everyone get up and dance with Cubby. I thought it was dumb and had no desire to do that but I was alone in my choice. So I was always kind of an independent thinker. I still have no desire to dance with mascots to this day lol. As far as bullies go though fortunately I was never beat up by anyone but admittedly I did beat up a couple people but it was kind of silly and immature.

Oh yeah and in a world where humanity is fully mature I don't see a real need for authority. For now though I think we need some kind of law and order or else everywhere would be like New York (there's that city again). That being said ultimately no person is superior to another. That's a whole other topic though...

i don't agree some people sure they need an authority figure cuz they don't know how to think for themselves but the whole thing about america was to get away from authority we even call the guy in charge of our militrary the president cuz king was too like the place we just left it's funny cuz i'm actually having this discussion on facebook right now where some dems are trying to convince me libertarianism is a pipeline to n@zism and they came to the same conclusion at the place i left the convo off at last that some authority is necessary for order my argument is giving someone any authority is a slippery slope the nolan chart (which is what i based my argument on over on facebook and is what one of my first blogs on this site is on) shows 2 different types of freedom economic and social as a result of the way the chart is laid out it shows liberals as being for social freedom but against economic freedom and for a concrvitive viceversa libertarian is for both freedoms and authoritarians as against both freedoms it doesn't matter if you're a liberal or a conservative when 1 freedom is restricted the other will always follow and they'll always slip to authoritarianism unless they can understand why restricting a freedom type is bad then they may start to lean more libertarian
