if you enjoy poetry…

something i’ve always enjoyed doing is buying two copies of the same poetry book. one is the pretty, untouched version that i can read and lend out. the other is like a diary, including my thoughts penciled in the margins, drawings and doodles, highlights and sticky notes. i find this to be quite therapeutic. when i’m comfortable with someone and they want to borrow a book, i always give them the option to read my β€œdeepest darkest secrets”. i think this kind of vulnerability strengthens the relationship, and i sometimes get to read their thoughts when i get them back!

I really like your method! When I'm reading something I like adding small sticky notes with doodles related to the scene and when my friend reads the book she also adds one beneath the mine. I started writing in my books a few moths ago and honestly it really makes the whole experience better. Recently I've been enjoying Mayakovsky's poem "A Cloud in Trousers" and Baudelaire's "Flower of Evil". I really enjoy modernism and symbolism as movements. Sending lots of love and hope you can tell me some of your poetry faves! βœ§β—(⁰▿⁰)β—œβœ§πŸŒΊπŸŒΈπŸŒΊπŸŒΈπŸŒΈ

oooh, thanks, i’ll have to check those out! while i do enjoy the relatively modern stuff like amanda lovelace’s poems, recently (and probably because of my english class) i’ve started to look at older stuff that requires a lot more analysis rather than emotion. i really like trying to figure out what the authors mean and how the poem’s structure is as important as its content! been re-reading β€œgoblin market” a whole lot, but i wouldn’t recommend it for younger audiences. once you know what the metaphors mean it gets INTENSE

i do more β€œfeeling” than β€œinterpreting” if i’m being honest! i like simple poetry with heavy topics i can relate to, makes me feel like i’m not alone :)
