Stay on the trails.

Went to a park near here, to see a lighthouse. Kind of a long walk, but I wasn't aware that you could just drive relatively close to it. So I started walking back in the opposite direction, kind of in a V shape with the lighthouse being the connecting point. I'm tracking my location on my map app, and there was a trail not marked on the map that appeared to connect two trailed that were.

Long story short, I wound up in a spot pretty densely overgrown and had lost my sense of direction, because it seemed like the map wasn't tracking any more. I crawled under fallen trees, I climbed over mossy fallen trees, and got whipped multiple times by branches that snapped back when I pushed them out of the way. I spent about 30 minutes with no idea where I was, but didn't feel like it was hairy enough to yell for help just yet. I finally stopped, caught my breath a little, then recognized a tree I'd gone by. I found my way back and then it was like another 30 minutes until I was at the park's parking lot. The north parking lot, when I came in through the south parking lot.

Also while I was playing in the woods, my mask got hooked on a branch or something and I didn't notice, so I couldn't take a bus or anything. Just had to hoof it all the way back to the car. It was an adventure, but what a dumbass thing to do. I'm just glad I didn't do it by a cliff or something. Anyway, stay on the trails. That's what they're there for.
