hey all! I’m gonna gush about a lil hobby of mine: DnD!!! Dungeons and Dragons holds a very special place in my heart, and despite the highs and lows its really something I admire and appreciate to this day! Ive been playing for almost… woah nearly 6 years, and DMing for about 3. Ive ran clubs at schools, hosted games with friends, and played games in public libraries. Its a great hobby, and as a book fiend and storyteller wannabe myself I get immersed so easily. I’m not into acting, but people have commented on my nice voice and told me I probably should. Perhaps one day, but until then I’ll stick to manifesting my characters!
So I’ve run a lot of campaigns (games) over the years, and I’ve always wanted to document the good ones somewhere in writing. Ive seen so many cool DnD comics that if I wasnt crap at art I’d probably draw one myself! No, haha sadly im just a writer, my hand is too shaky. Well, if your interested in a spurratic and mysterious quest that has yet to unfold, I welcome DnD fans old and new! But enough words and woes, let me introduce you to my newest game to come: The Lochen Insurrection!
Many a fellow knows the fate of Lochen Kingdom, the bygone misty forests and Twin Ire Peaks! Infact, I myself was born in Lochen! Why, don’t believe me? Friends, perhaps the ruins are not as old as they seem! You seem perplexed, perhaps you’d humor this old cat in a minstrel’s tale. Well, in the not so far past, this land was filled with people of all races! Species mingled and asserted themselves, but none could stay at peace! That is, until along came Grim Lochen the Great! A proud and powerful ruler, he was as strong on a throne as he was tactical in combat. A lover turned warrior, he charmed the peoples hearts and established a capital, Lochen’s Keep. The people wanted him to lead, so he accepted with open arms! Peace was brought along the land, and the people were happy. Grim had three children: Seline, the eldest, a tabaxi half-child of a fling in Grim’s adventurer days. They loved their family, but blood boiled with the lust for adventure. Next was Grimora, his human daughter. Before his late wife passed, he had raised a strapping lass who took after him in courage and after her mother in wit. Lastly, there was Stolus, the youngest. An adopted Half-Ork son, he had saved him as a babe from abandonment and death. This rag-tag royal family symbolified the diverse peoples of Lochen, and the masses loved the family. Stolus would go on to form the Left Hand, a faction of powerful and benevolent defenders and enforcers aspiring to redeem the fallen. Seline disappeared when she left home one day, leaving only the sudden appearance of a population of tabaxi nomads in her wake. Some say she traveled with them as their ruler, yet others say she left the land all-together to pursue adventures on the horizon. And as for Grimora… although Grim was powerful and hardy, after a long and prosperous life he dedicated the throne to her. The people accepted it with open arms, and her kindly brother, not concerned with politics, congratulated and supported her coronation. Seline was still no where to be found when the Queen took the throne. Many more years passed, and towns and trading cities attracted more and more immigrants from unwelcome lands. Grimora welcomed them with open arms, leaving a place for every person in Lochen. The people were happy, and eventually Grimora wed a consort elven emissary from the Emerald Ire, a political rival turned ally. Their half-elf daughter Lyra took after her mother and grandfather, and life was peaceful. That is, until disaaster struck. The queen died suddenly, and the king reluntantly took throne. He was not a ruler, and did not enjoy his role. His daughter, devastated, retreated to her room for many a late night. The people were told it was an illness, but I know better. The royal family expected foul play. And Lyra wanted revenge. As the nation had grew over the years, many prominant guilds developed. Some of which were powerful, and had formed their own militia. Although there was no vocal dissent, Lyra wished to meet with the leaders and decide this for herself. Under the guise of an open-to-all Guild Festival, she assembled the leaders privately at the capital. This festival had an unexpected response: people and adventurers from outside the nation heard word and traveled far and wide. Our stage is set, friends, and as these pieces fall into place, the figure behind the scenes cackles in wicked anticipation. The game is almost afoot…
Whew, long stuff! if i keep this motivation, I think i will write down the story between sessions and share whats happening, for fun! Hope yalls days are great!
