heya, some more fun games I wanna discuss. 3 more to be precise: enjoy if its your thing, maybe check em out if you havn't!
SNKRX is a really unique rougelike deckbuilding bullet-hell. Its a refreshing twist on snake where you buy units inbetween rounds and fight off waves of pellet enemies! The gameplay itself is simple but enjoyable, and even though the graphics and visuals arn't special its a good game to play casually! A big part of the game is the synergies- units come from different classes, and each of their abilities can pair really well with eachother! The game really does a great job with allowing you to choose your build, and you can play around with combinations or go really hard on one class for an added bonus to skills. Its really simple but is just a great game to enjoy if you have a short break.
Death Road to Canada is a rougelite shoot-em-up zombie run-and-gun that plays like an old-fashioned arcade game! You create a survivor or mutiple with specific perks and stats, and amass a team of up to 4 as you traverse the zombie-infested American landscapes in hopes of reaching Canada, the last bastion in the post apocolyptic world. The game is great- humourous and witty, and even though it can get intense and challenging at times it never takes itself too seriously. Survivors quip and quarell with one another, characters are wacky and fight with odd or over-the-top weapons and abilities, and the game is littered with references that both celebrate and poke fun at games and the zombie genre as a whole. Its really satisfying to cut down the huge swaths of zombies, and as you progress you must spend time gathering resources and looting abandoned areas. Similar to the Organ Trail which the game takes a lot of inspiration from, there are choices you have to make along the way which can have drastic or meaningless consequences. It never feels too bad to loose, and with multiplayer you can experience the wacky zombie-killing road with friends. Theres a built in temperment system, and another great mechanic is making sure your survivors stay happy and sane to prevent reckless mistakes. Overall a delight to play!
Lastly I wanna recommend Terraria. Theres been a resurgence of Minecraft as of late (god help minecraft please) and I guess sandbox/open world games as a whole. I'm not the kind of Terraria fan to be like "terraria is 2d minecraft" its really not so don't massacre me Terraria fans hear me out.... Minecraft and terraria, and other games in the sandbox genre share the element of a sense of open-worlded control. You fight against the environment just as much as it fights you. You learn the mechanics and explore the world, and you get used to the game environment and aesthetic. People don't play minecraft for the farming simulation, they play it for the insane amassing of items and automization and pvp and building and more. If you enjoy any of that, any of that at all, please try out Terraria if you havn't already. Terraria is a 2d sandbox exploration and dungeon-delving game that I really admire and appreciate. You mine, fight monsters, and pretty much own the world. You start out as a simple person in a deadly and hostile monster-filled environment, but as you go deeper and deeper you start to really shape the world and become the driving force. You progress, beating bosses and creatures and amassing more powerful weapons and building greater structures as you just progress and its really amazing and indescribable. Theres so many different ways to play, and if you havn't ever I'd really reccomend just dipping your toes in and going blind. Don't check the wiki like people say, don't watch people who lets play or review. Just try it out, and if you get stuck maybe play online with a friend and get some tips. Even more-so than minecraft in my opinion you become invested in the world and atmosphere of terraria. Minecraft nowadays has lost the appeal as a game with a story and lore and creatures, but with terraria it all just compliments the gameplay perfectly. A gem for sure, if you want maybe try it sometime.
thats all for today, ill try to find more of the unique games I like... still a bit more in my immediate memory. Hope yalls days are well if your reading this!
