If I had a daughter I’d name her June
And when I saw your curls against her summer smile,
I would think of all the moons we can’t see from here, and the white lily petals of earth.
I would think of the architects that brought us together and hands in the soil and a school of stingrays, kicking up sand to make the children laugh
June finds a seashell, there goes mama!
