Hi!! I hope everyone has been doing well, seeing that things are a bit slower now over here. :)
Well, not even one week after starting this job, I met someone.
This person that I was randomly assigned to practice "breaking the ice" in sales with just so happen to share a scary amount of interests with me. The conversation went surprisingly well, so much so that we planned to go on an artist alley that would happen in a month.
We’d frequently have lunch together after work in restaurants I didn’t even know existed in Lisbon. And then get boba and walk off the lunch while exploring the city I never bothered knowing about but had so many fun and interesting places to go and things to do. And they even introduced me to Metallica (Ride The Lightning is sooo good ><)
I honestly had no idea I could have this much fun with someone. Where I didn’t need to keep appearances or be sidelined for someone else. Just talking about everything and anything that came to mind and laughing together. I guess I did crave this sort of connection for the longest time but never had the opportunity.
I slept over at their place the day before the event so we wouldn’t get there late and have time to get the cosplays ready (they lent me their Navia cosplay while they cosplayed Clorinde). Of course we got weird looks on the way, some complimented us while one lady came up to us and was really rude but we just laughed it off.
The artist alley was really good. We got to see so many amazing cosplays, beautiful merch and artwork (there was so much Mermaid Melody merch that I couldn’t resist buying some hehe) and there were so many people that asked to take pictures with us! OHH and there was even someone in a Hippo suit and it was so cute!!
(The only problem was the heat and it was so unbearable! Thank god we brought fans and had Navia’s umbrella TT-TT)
My first sleepover, my first artist alley, my first time cosplaying. I had so many firsts in such a short amount of time with them I still can’t believe it happened.
And now we are planning on going to another event this Sunday and in October going all the way to the north to go to a major anime event. I already have the money saved up and I’m so excited for it ><
The job itself, beyond some small frustrations here and there — which is normal — it has been fun. I get to meet new people every week and got to see so many different homes. And most of all, I’ve been forced to get out of my comfort zone, like having to approach people on the street to get more clients for my demonstrations. Even my supervisor has set me up for a gig where I will live translate a wedding speech. How would I have done this otherwise??
Thank you so much for reading and I wish you an amazing day/night <3
