Hey everyone! I'm really happy that some of you checked out my previous blog about my Genshin Impact OC. I'm pretty excited to show you Kaid's weapon concept! This one will be a bit shorter, though. :3
First of all, like I mentioned in my previous blog (⬅️link) , I always wanted my OC to have a weapon inspired by a guitar
Where did the idea come from? It was inspired by the Nevan guitar from one of my favorite game series, Devil May Cry 3.
Nevan?
What the hell is this?
Nevan is a demon from Devil May Cry 3. She appears as a seductive vampire-like woman who fights using lightning and swarms of bats
When Dante defeats her, she surrenders her soul and transforms into an electric guitar, which becomes one of the weapons he can use throughout the game
With that in mind, my first attempt was to create a weapon that looked a bit like Warlock.

It was supposed to be the guitar of the "crazy lady who's married to Mr. Ragnvindr." You can definitely tell it was just a weird early idea... so I ended up leaving it behind
After that, I didn't draw any more weapon concepts, but I did come up with a few other ideas, such as:
An ice spear❄️
Instead of carrying a weapon, the idea was that the character would create their spear out of ice whenever he needed it
An axe 🪓
It was pretty similar to Navia's weapon....
Claws (light sword) ␥
I wanted them to work like Kirara's attacks since she's a cat, but that idea was actually meant for my old wolf OC... and eventually it just made me cringe. 😭
After going back and forth so many times, I finally returned to the guitar with Kaid's current weapon design

I'd like to introduce...
Icebreaker Melody
or
Lament of the Seven Strings
I still can't decide which name I like better... damn it. 😭 I recently came up with this design... THE GUITAR IS BACK BRO
My idea was to make it look like it was built from random metal scraps, mechanical parts you could find in the ruins, and covered with a layer of icy armor
The inspiration from Nevan (Devil May Cry 3) came back as well. Since I play guitar in real life, bringing that idea back made Kaid feel much more personal to me. It feels like a part of who I am
It's a powerful 7-string guitar, but it's also a fully functional Claymore. Kaid can actually play music with it, using melodies to express himself or fun. Then, in the middle of battle, he simply grabs it by the neck and swings it like a massive sword
I wanted the weapon to feel like a true fusion of both concepts—not just a sword shaped like a guitar or a guitar that happens to be a weapon. It should look and function as both at the same time. Every part of the instrument is meant to be usable in combat, while still looking believable enough that someone could actually play it
The Cryo armor isn't just decoration either. It reinforces the weapon, gives it a heavier and sharper appearance, and visually represents Kaid's elemental vision

This one was a bit shorter, but I really enjoy sharing my creative process with you all. I hope I was able to show the idea I wanted to achieve, and making this has given me even more motivation to keep creating. :3

Damn the guitar is sooo beautiful. Icebreaker melody sound amazing go me!! U know what i also actually got an oc using a guitar as a weapon, the difference is that her guitar looks more like ur draft and it has a massive blade inserted in it. It get out when she swings the guitar (in a certain way) and that shit is heavy asf, but she has super strong muscles. Mine uses it to play music to, as she got the music-manipulation and super speed powers, she sometimes uses muaic to materialize her speed however she likes, plus her parents are super stars (nad secret agents, yes the double life), so the music career inspired her too. She also has pink-green wolfcut, blue eyes and a punk/grunge style. Got inspired from a game i used to play. Well heres my little rant. Reaaly like ur blog!!
BROTHER, THAT IDEA IS GREAT! I really like the idea of the powers and the weapon; I think it's original and it looks great with the style!! I would love to see a drawing of that! :3
