on looking a certain way and overconsumption

do you ever get tired of all of the steps it takes to be "pretty" in society? all of the expectations? my social medias are saturated with thousands of videos talking about the latest product to solve all of my problems, and the algorithm is hellbent on identifying each of my insecurities and laying them out for me. minor things now hugely impact my thoughts toward myself. what even is keratosis pilaris??

the sad part is, it all works too well. i have a full sephora wishlist for skincare, i get insecure when i don't have my nails done, and i constantly compare my hair/skin/body/lifestyle to women on social media who are most likely using filters or being paid to advertise certain products. it exhausts me.

yes... creating a feeling of "lacking" something while introducing payed "solutions" is a rotted root of capitalistic society.
you do not lack anything, love.
it is people who try to push it onto you so you fill their wallets.

thank you. <3 it just sometimes sucks that the things that make me feel insecure some days are the same things that make me feel 'pampered'. there's no winning!
