Kick-Ass 3

I am done with the Dave Lizewski era of Kick-Ass since I just finished Kick-Ass 3 and this book is pretty good. It's a real step up from Kick-Ass 2 and is a bit more back to basics. I don't think it's as edgy and mean as Kick-Ass and Kick-Ass 2 but this is still a Mark Millar book so it has it's moments. I also like that we're back to a standard street level mob story. I also like how this is a story about growth. This is a story about Dave going from some piece of shit kid to a normal guy who actually forms a life for himself that grows out of Kick-Ass and realizes that he doesn't need to be a superhero anymore. I also like how they handle Chris' redemption arc. While Chris dies to save Hit-Girl, she still doesn't forgive him for everything he did and she shouldn't given how he's a rapist who killed children and wanted to do something worse than 9/11. Skull And Bones are really cool characters however they are severely underutilized. I think this might be the best Kick-Ass book. The book does have a post credits scene teasing a new Kick-Ass which does get resolved in the Hit-Girl book by Image Comics. I don't have any immediate plans to continue reading the Kick-Ass universe but that's up next whenever I end up getting around to it.
