Groceries

I'm really proud of myself today.  I was cleaning the kitchen and when I got to the fridge I just couldn't really stop... well okay, I decided the freezer was for another day but I washed/cleaned all the compartments & reorganized it all.  My favorite part has to be the lineup of pickles, pickled cabbage, marinated artichokes, minced garlic and fresh garlic.  #fridgescaping.  Anyways, this is a big deal for me because food alone is something that takes a lot in me to at times face.  Especially when it's all some unorganized, chaotic mess.  At least, in spaces where it's being eaten, that is.  I've lately been fascinated by food as art, even food fights, possibly...that may be pushing it as far as sensory experiences go.  Still this sort of task is one that I previously felt I needed someone else for.  Goodness... even today a rotting lemon made my skin absolutely crawl but I managed to simply throw it away.

I also went grocery shopping.  It definitely helps to make a list.  I did stray a bit but I didn't feel super overwhelmed... that is, until it came to my favorite aisle... the one containing cereal.  It certainly captivates me, but it also stresses me.  Certain brands (of food in general, and also cleaning products, among other things) do feel off to me, but others are fine.  You could ask me why that is but I wouldn't know the answer.   I'm also not a huge fan of food crossovers, like I don't know, Snickers flavored Pop Tarts or something.  Very strange indeed.  That's besides the point.  I decided to make cereal a thing for me instead of letting it overwhelm me, like each time if I feel like it, I can try a new one... this time I went with Kashi strawberry banana smoothie loops.  It's one of those fancy health ones or something.  I was a bit surprised about not only my pick itself but how relatively fast it took for me to decide and not change my mind.  Oftentimes I can stay in an aisle for an extended period of time comparing every brand, product, and ingredient.  But it was on sale and the other contender was too similar to a cereal we already have at home.  Of course, I hope it tastes good.  Someday though I think it'd be fun and also rewarding to make my own.  I'd love to make everything from scratch if I can.

Sometimes I really can love food.  Usually when I'm high.  I especially love cooking it.  But most of the time it's a lot to take in, and a lot to decide on.  Maybe it's a small win, but this all feels big to me.. I really used to think it wasn't something I could face on my own and I did... I can and I did!
