a bland person in my opinion is someone who blindly follows trends and has no creative thinking. i see this multiple times and i see this everywhere. the only vaguely independent thing that these people do is pick out what next big thing to follow.
everyone is a representation of their past/// to do literally anything you had to have learned it at some point. but for some reason these people decide to represent other people's past and experiences. they're consumers,,, i would much prefer a life of creation over a life of consumption.
they follow trends. they dress the same, wear the same cologne, make their rooms look the same, live the same, talk the same, and do everything as closely as possible to a makeshift "aesthetic". social media turned on the afterburner for blandness. it cut down on any creativity because it gave a metric for art (likes and views and etc.) and too many people chase perfecting this metric over being truly authentic.
i know this is ironic since im posting this here but this website lets me express myself like no other. i can customize my profile endlessly and make whatever i want. theres no point in posting anything here i just yell into a void and i make a pretty profile and this is all that i've ever wanted in my life yay
please pelase please break out of following trends!! build a personality for yourself, make your life full of things personal for you, don't let media take your identity!!!! :PPPP
P.S. if you're on this website 90% chance you're not bland

y'know what, you're absolutely right!! at this point, the only social media i have is spacehey (which i use more for blogging than actually talking to people...), occasionally pinterest, youtube if that counts, and ao3 (which again, is more for reading than actual conversations). i deleted insta last year to focus on my studies and exams but i feel really socially isolated from my friends because literally everyone and their grandmothers are on insta these days??

THIS!!!!! like i am so fuckign sick and tired of ai slop taking over social media AND PEOPLE EAT IT UP LIKE MINDLESS SHEEP????? fucking pinterest is full of ai and ads and ai-gen ads, fucking insta is full of ai bots and ai influencers, fucking twitter man. just. the entirety of twitter. god, everything social media just SUCKS now.
it's such a struggle to express myself because if i'm not being 'aesthetic', i'm being 'weird' (and i consider it a compliment, but a lot of the general populace considers that an insult, which. okay.) AND THAT PISSES ME OFF SO MUCH!!! wearing shirts because i hate t-shirts gets me shamed because oh i'm dressing like a boy. wearing lipstick gets me shamed because oh that's blue and normal people don't wear blue lipstick. like????? why should we live our lives confined to the whims of social media influencers and big corpos who create trends only for money??? what if i wanna dress in a suit huh? what if i wanna dress in a big poofy dress???
society has rules about how we present ourselves and we have like pre-made 'trends' people follow, and i don't think it's an entirely bad thing! but when creativity and harmless self-expression is dying, i think we need to reevaluate things.

i dont have tiktok nor instagram,i speak english like its my native language and im media literate
that already puts me in 0.1% of the turkish population,im quite literally the opposite of bland
(for now,maybe ill become a "bland" person in the near future (hopefully not))

I hate modern social media and don't use it all except for pinterest, occasionally (funny memes and artslop) and instagram (because, to be honest, I kind of need it if I don't want to drift even more away from my friends and peers because, well, everyone is on that shit app).
I'm still a bland and boring person and I hate myself for it
I still (fail) to chase aesthetics, just to find myself but I never get far.

Yeah, I downloaded instagram again and made my profile again after like more than a year after dissappearing. You literally can't customize anything, everyone's profile looks and is laid out the same, you can't markdown or html format text, this whole app is a travesty of modern engineering!! (ok, exaggerating here but i'm mad let me be mad okay)

you're not bland enough to realize that social media is horrible.. and you dont look like you fit my definition of a bland person. realizing that you're bland AND being disgusted by it is the first step to becoming interesting.
