Okay so i finally went back to the comic shop to get my copies of Sam & Twitch, it had been three months so i was three issues behind and the guy that works there said he was worried about me lol. BUT i also hadn't read the issue i still had from 4 months ago bc this story was making me mad, so i finally sat down and read that one and the three new ones and honestly? they were not the worst.
So in my last long ass blog about these two i went on and on about how much i hated this new run and all because of the miss-characterization of my boys and stuff, and in issues 17 and 18 this is still apparent, but they DO connect the story to Spawn's necroplasm which is where i was hoping the story would go so that is a plus, but the end was a little confusing so i can't really say if spawn knows whats going on or not. They do also bring back Twitch and Spawn's like connection from the old comics which is really nice because it forces you to remember that these guys are not in their own universe and that spawn just doesn't exist here. So i guess despite l Twitch and Sam being really out of character and the story being really really confusing to me (which could just be on me for not reading it for like 4 months and not bothering to look back through the other issues) i suppose it is not as bad as i made it. The writing is still pretty lackluster and whatnot tho, it feels like its trying to make commentary but its not working very well, shoutout to Thomas Nachlik for the beautiful art that made me able to thug it out until the end.
Issues 19 & 20 start a new story and pull in a new artist, his name is Von Randal and he works on other Spawn stories and he posts magik art a lot so i guess hes a fan. He is a wonderful artist and i love how he draws sam, however he draws twitch like a crazy old guy and dont get me wrong its great but i CANNOT take him seriously looking like that. The first part of the story is Sam taking over a bunch of unfinished cases for a guy that retired and finding one that is connected to an old case of him and Twitch's that we learn fucked sam UP like that he almost died and shit, and i like the idea here but i think it would be super fun if they did actually bring back a story that had been done, but maybe im dumb and this is actually an old run story i will have to find out but as of now im not sure. Per usual there are bigger players here and it seems like theres gonna be some good old corruption and all that jazz, im wondering if the commissioner will be in on it like in the 90s comics. Damn, how many corrupt cops could there possibly be?? (ahaha..)
But seriously this story actually seems pretty promising, Sam & Twitch seem much more in character and they have their silly banter back. They also are REALLY pushing the partner thing and how special the bond between them both is, which actually scares me a little but also maybe they'll just make out i genuinely have no clue. But uh yeah so sorry for hating so hard but not actually sorry because up until these recent two issues those guys haven't been at all in character, i mean cmon there hasnt been a single gay joke from sam in all 20 issues are you scared to get canceled by the woke mob or something?? i promise you the 15 people reading this run don't care

some pictures from the two newest issues with artist Von Randal (& colorists Fco Plascencia and Sheila Saldaña, damn)
Yes twitch we see the haircut PLEASE stop this madness
