Day 3 of My 30-Day Experiment (So many books...)

30 day no phone challenge WE ON DAY 3!!!!!!!

QUICK RECAP ANS GOALS FOR THOSE WHO STUMBLE ACROSS THIS:

Like I promised, I was going to give an update about my current challenge/experiment. For those who just happened to stumble onto this blog without reading the second one right here --> Day 2 of My 30-day Experiment. (It's going well!) - AxelAgony's Blog | SpaceHey.   For a short summary, I am getting off my phone for 30 days. No social media whatsoever except for SpaceHey, which is strictly computer only. The only two things I am allowed to do on my phone is have people contact me and listen to music on Spotify until I am able to purchase an iPod. My goal is to extend this challenge every single time I reach a goal. If I make it to 30 days with signs of improvement, I want to extend it to 5 months and so on. The biggest goal would to be to switch my phone out with a flip phone entirely and live my life without the worries of doomscrolling.

Now that the short recap is out of the way, I'm proud to say I have been collecting books now as a hobby! My school library has started to give out the ones no one reads anymore, and I thought that it was an amazing opportunity for me since I'd need something to keep me busy during these 30 days. Today, I got my hands on 11 new books that looks perfect on my shelf, I'm itching to go read them all, but I have to finish 'The Reappearance of Rachel Price' first. The book has actually kept me pretty entertained, since the mom just appeared... which is the whole point of the book but whatever. The more time I spend off my phone, the more things I start to collect and give away. This weekend, I'm really excited to donate a few of my old books to the library near my area. Maybe getting off your phone for a bit makes you want to give more things away, I'm not really sure. (Quick note: For some reason, the font on this blog keeps changing despite me not touching anything, I'm so sorry if this is a headache to read bc the font keeps going down whoopsies)

What else have I been doing to keep busy? If I'm being honest, YouTube is a super big help when it comes to boredom. I'm a big fan of predator catcher videos, so I can watch those for a few hours on end without having the urge to use my phone. My CD player helps me a lot to ease into not using streaming platforms, and I've been taking walks around my neighborhood to help become more active. Just the simple things that help my fix my attention span. I haven't watched a lot of movies yet, but I have a written list of things I want to watch and rewatch. Another thing I plan to do is to start sowing again, since I have a lot of leftover fabric and time on my hands now. The only reason I wrote this segment is because 1) I don't have much else to talk about that isn't gossip and 2) If anyone else is planning on trying this out, these are just a few ideas of things you can do to help combat urges to get on your phone!

Overall, my attention span and my habits have gotten a lot healthier. I've been writing every day, reading daily, walking, doing my work daily (Though today I'm giving myself a break because I have a headache) and collecting more things that I actually use. This experiment so far has been overly positive on me as a person. Of course, that may change in the future. I think all I'm going to do now is go for a walk before it gets dark out. I look forward to writing more tomorrow + I changed my blog layout just a smidge!!
