This morning during morning play time I saw a boy and girl arguing. The boy started hitting the girl. I told him to stop but he just carried on doing it. I went over and pushed him away from her and stood between them to protect her. He then tried to push past me to get at her so I punched him. As I punched him a teacher appeared and gave me a detention while he got away with it because the teacher only saw me hit him.
I can live with the detention (even though it’s unfair) but I’m so angry about him hitting a girl and not being punished. I think I did the right thing stepping in to help her. When me and my mom still lived with my dad I saw him hit her so many times that I just hate seeing a man or a boy strike a woman or a girl. I just couldn’t stand there and do nothing.

You did the right thing.
It was very noble and brave of you to do that. Shame on the teachers for focusing on you and not taking into consideration why you did what you did.
They got the wrong person (as so often happens).
It makes me angry as well when these bullies can only feel powerful by resorting to hitting women/girls.
I hope someone will listen to your reasoning

Hitting people in general is not acceptable, regardless of gender, other than for self defence or for defending others of course. I'm sorry that happened to you and that girl.
