Not going to do a full review because I want to re-read the book as it's been awhile.
I liked the set design? Though I don't really know why they set it in the victorian era, when the book came out in 1818 lol. As a movie I thought it was alright, all of the performances of the actors were pretty good (I like Mia Goth in general though). I'm just not sure I liked it as a Frankenstein adaptation though. I feel like they made Victor like more of an asshole in the movie than he was in the book (pertaining to his motivations for abandoning the creature).
Anyways I need to reread it so I can fully pinpoint why I kinda didn't fuck with it as much as I was anticipating I would.
The movie also changed like several plot points but that's whatever. Adaptions will adapt I guess.

To be honest, except for the Mia Goth character (I didn't remember her name), I found it kind of difficult to like the other characters. I know it's Guillermo del Toro and all, but it was kind of boring and felt way too long.
I feel the same, and I'm actually like a huge fan of the director too which is why I was so excited. There were a lot of plot points from the book that weren't in the film either which I was disappointed by lol.
Also in the book, Victor was like a loser young college drop out and I feel like changing that made me not really like his character lol.

Yep the rewrite of his character was not a good idea!

I feel like this movie goes harder if you just simply didn't read the book lol

Guillermo looks like he hasn't read the book either lol, but yeah, it would be really easier to watch without knowing the characters from the book first
