just a girl and her training sword

Meet my training sword its roughly 54 inches long compared to me who is roughly 59½ inches tall, the handle alone is 15 inches!!

i mentioned in the past in a bulletin that this is a miaodao sword, a long two handed sword, or at the least the closest i can get to one.

Now i am unsure if the website my dad got it from specifically said it was a miaodao because there are many similar swords in both Japan and Korea with different names but the same style. (generally a lot of east Asia, but from what I've read those two countries mostly)

the miaodao is a Chinese Dao or an American saber, and it is a two handed sword similar to a katana (looks wise) but longer in length and without a wrapped handle aka a tsukamaki.

now as for the history of the miaodao it's hard to say because as mentioned before there are many swords who looks very similar if not identical just from different ethnic groups and generally this is not a "super" unique sword in general terms 

What is known is that it is a sword that was used in battle by Chinese soldiers roughly from Qing Dynasty from 1644 to 1912 (broad timeline ik), its very important to note that the Wodao sword from this era is most likely the first that came, and that the wodao came from Japan origins

its hard to explain the history of this sword, and truth be told im unsure if the training sword i have is completely similar to the miaodao sword shown online, but the sword i have is one i love soon if i can prove myself worthy i can get a real steel sword for my own!!! :D

Soon when my websites done i will do a whole page about the history of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean swords but until then this is what i know
