In current times, the feeling of pride is often miscontrued with the ideals of you can only be boastful in your achievements. While, this is true we often lack the foresight to see that pride can be distributed into negative feelings that seem to consume the world in every shadow. As people, with the contribution of being able to see others highs and lows through the internet, we often resonate with the audience that is currently feeling the same way we do. While social mirroring can be good, it can often bring out the bad, hence pride in sorrow.
Taking pride in your sorrow is something that I believe alot of people do as it will always be easier to waste away versus taking change and making a change in your current habitat. It's the mindset of believing that no one truly has it as bad as you, reverse positive thinking. You start to glorify you're hard times, you start to reinforce bad things in the essence of trying to make your situations seems like they are truly one of one.
"Yeah my family member died, so I get to be sad" "xyz happened so i can react in abc way"
this ideology does nothing but further propel you in an entrapment that produces nothing positive because instead of trying to escape it, you reward the shadow with a bigger shade instead of a bigger light to fully dissipate it.
While its okay to embrace negative times, you should never let them consume you. nonetheless should we live in a society that glorifies depression, suicide, heartbreak, etc. Pride is a sin that consumes in both ways, just as batteries have both negative and postive charge... life is all about balancing your charges.
