I have nostalgia for Worlize still even if I played at an age I wasn't supposed to. Worlize was this old internet chat room where you could set any image or gif as your avatar. There was more to it, there was a youtube link player, a bar with a working bartender npc, there was hangman. they had this script you could put into your room where if you typed *pew*, a laser goes to wherever your cursor pointed. I'm selling it so short. You could put other images and gifs but set them as props for people to move around, the background of the room itself could be any image, the game was so versitile. If your curious about this site, I suggest these videos on it.
Worlize: A site that deserved better (a short documentary)
If you search worlize, there's so much old footage of it. I think for me, my fondest memories were using the props and playing house with them by myself in the game. This is how I first learned how to save images on my desktop and let me tell you, I went wild making my own world and decorating it. It's also where I first learned about cards against humanity. If a site like this ever exist again, it would be nice. However, I'm not sure how it would end up. There was drama back in the day about stolen art being used for people's avatars. The most modern equivalent to Worlize (not counting Whirled. i tried to get into it, I couldn't) is ponytown. But the general vibe of Worlize were people hanging around, sometimes afking, (you know, I think more chat rooms should have a thing where you can pin a stick note to your avatar that says "off tab, whisper me" or something)
That''s all. I'm just quite nostalgic for this old virtual world. The script for it is out there if anyone would like to revive it in the future but for now, maybe its nice its put in the past. I can already think of how weird people can use the fact you could upload anything as a profile image. It was just a simpler time when less people felt mean back then.
