dull monochrome monotone drudge
of the day after day after day after day
boxed in, lost in
work, rinse, repeat
same grey faces
same grey street
every one of those faces
is feeling the same
toil with no rest
pointless test
but every one of those faces
got something to save 'em
their own idea of distraction
that's worth entertaining
maybe it's a family
maybe it's a dream
maybe it's a whip
in which they roll with the team
or something as simple
as having food on their plate
it's a shame that we live
for the end of the day
but everyone got something
that takes them away
