HELPPP PLEASE SWORD PEOPLE

my dad wants me to pick out a sword.

yes i know that sounds insane but we've been training with swords for awhile (the katana specifically) and now it's getting serious so i have to pick one sword out to master 

however, i can also pick other things but a sword is recommended and i am getting a knife for my birthday

im going to look around personally but if someone can recommend me something before morning please do

i want to find something single bladed but any recs will do
