When I lived in the Midwest, we didn't have Daiso or any other stores like that anywhere near me. We only got a MiniSo the year I graduated high school. But now that I live on the West Coast, I have access to Daiso! Today, I discovered that there's one near me! So obviously, I immediately went and spent 3,000 yen. (Ok so that's like 20 bucks, but still.) I already have a list of other things I want to buy next time I go, but I only got a few things this time around.
I was really pleasantly surprised to find letter writing sets, so I bought two. One has very pretty foiled feathers at the top with green envelopes, and the other is a plainer white set with some decorative lines in the margins. Both are lined (thank God, we all know I can't write in a straight line to save my life). I'm going to write some letters to my friends back in the midwest!
Next, I found a very cute Jinbesan car air freshener. I actually audibly squealed when I saw it, Jinbesan is so cute! It's coconut scented, but in a candy way and not a self-tanner way, which I adore. My car smells SO GOOD now!
I got a nice set of silicone coasters for my desk, since I drink a lot of hot tea in the afternoons while I work on my computer or do art. My desk is wood, and also nearly a century old, so I want to take care of it the best I can. The coasters have a very cute sort of scalloped design? They almost look like the {} brackets LOL.
I got two different rice ball (I think they're called Onigiri?) makers! One is a green silicone one, and one is a pink plastic one with Hello Kitty printed on the front. I'll probably use the pink one if I actually want to pack them for lunch, but technically both can be used to take them on the go!
I got a little wood and paper folding fan with a blue and pink cherry blossom design; it perfectly fits in my purse!
In the snack section, they had these interesting jelly tube snacks for only 1.50 for the whole package, so I got them to try. I already tried the grape flavored one, and I really enjoy the texture. It's like Jell-o, but softer. Obviously, I also had to grab a bottle of strawberry Calpico, which is one of my favorite convenience store drinks.
Before I left, I also grabbed a reusable shopping bag with a very cute bird on it. People are always shocked that I like pink, but it's so nice! It reminds me of sunsets and peaches and flowers:)
I had a great time while I was there, and I plan to go back soon!

Daiso is a dangerous place one's wallet lol
There's a Daiso in my city but i have yet to visit it because it's out of the way for me, but I'm always stopping at the konbini and japanese grocery store for snacks and dishes/utensils. They sell about the same stuff as Daiso, but Daiso has a greater selection- especially more non-food items. I really wanna buy some stationary from there and uwabaki (house slippers).
i love that u write letters to ur friends <3
i've always wanted to write letters to someone but i don't have friends like that atm ;u;
I have a friend going to college down south, but we're not close enough anymore for it to not be weird :')
the whole process of choosing cute stationary, writing the letter, decorating it with stamps, stickers, drawings, etc. and then choosing a cute envelope and decorating it is something i yearn to experienceeeee. you must enjoy writing letters in my place 🫡
i will! i try to use snail mail when i can, because the feeling of receiving a handwritten letter is amazing! i wish i had a proper konbini near me, so daiso must do! the strawberry wheat buns are a must have! i like to pull them apart one layer at a time lol
