What's up with lolitas and knotts scary farm???

I'm referring to the fashion. Anyways I as a member of the lolita community don't quite get it but every time it comes around I hear about it from lolitas everywhere! I don't quite get why though. Does anyone know why? My com has at least one meet scheduled for it and I see it on various lolitas social media as well!
