My yeast colony grows

Last year my mom bought me a sourdough yeast starter kit, and a few days ago I finally started my yeast colony. Today's the third day, which means I had to feed it. Sad that discarding some is necessary to keep a more mild flavor (from what I have read) and prevent mold growth. Oh well.

Also, I never knew yeast had such a funky scent. Just read that in its current stage, it's normal to smell kind of "off" since the balance between yeast and bacteria is trying to balance out. In the next few days it should smell better, though!
