wanted to share a comment i made on a blog titled 'i hate this generation'. i think i'll be reposting more of my comments because this is fun (do you guys find it pretentious? lmk). just wanted to express my opinion on the modern music culture.
i mean for the music scene it really depends on where you live. and even that can many times be an excuse since you can always find a certain group or niche of people outside of the internet, you just have to look for it enough. idk i don't wanna come off as rude but if you really wanna 'go back' to a time period in which you've never lived in, there are many steps you can take that don't involve time travelling. perhaps uninstall streaming services, social media, maybe just straight up get a flip phone, go outside more i suppose.
now don't get me wrong, i too am not a huge fan of today's media and slop, especially when it comes to music, i think it's mostly the lamest thing ever nowadays, but doesn't it actually give value to things that are actually good that also come out in this period in time? think of the bright side, consider this as a sort of revolution, if this is the shit that's being fed to society, eventually society is bound to react in some sort of way, right? really makes music that is more organic, felt and sincere shine in a beautiful way, like hope. (and i'm not talking about stuff that is completely copying the past in a way where it's just nostalgia-fueled for the sake of it being 'old school', something fresh and new but still genuine)
go listen to Porci by Marco Castello. seems like a good example to me regarding this topic. besides the italian, that you probably won't understand, listen to the production and the song structure/rythm/melodies.. it's modern for sure, but that doesn't really take out the soul.
that's my opinion
