Until 1st grade in high school I absolutely hated running in PE class. I was always the worst. However in 3rd grade I was usually one of the first girls to finish, usually around 3rd place. Here are my tips how to achieve a similar effect.
Of course you have to begin with changing your mindset. It's not about always coming first but about working on yourself. What matters is to give it your all.
To prepare for a run in PE class, it's beneficial to add exercise to your regular routine. In 4th grade of high school I would stretch on WeStretch for 15 minutes everyday. Also, to avoid fatigue, try to sleep enough and eat your breakfast.
Bring a water bottle to PE. When you start to feel weaker it will keep you going.
My biggest mistake as a child was starting with sprint. That made me get tired quickly. You have to spread your strength evenly and rather than focusing on speed, focus on the technique and the pure process of running.
While running try not to talk to anyone nor sing, as it will make it harder to breathe evenly. Instead listen to music with wireless headphones or do it like I did: treat your steps as a rhythm. I learned this trick from K-on, and I have to admit it works.
To avoid stomachaches, inhale with your nose and exhale with your mouth. It helps.
Think positively. You can create milestones, and after outrunning one you'll feel closer to the end which will motivate you.
Try to avoid stopping. Think about the future and the satisfaction you'll feel after reaching the end. Repeat this mantra: it hurts now, it works in the end. Of course you can stop and ask for help if you get hurt, sick, dizzy etc.
After the run, stretch to relax your muscles.
That would be it. You can ask questions, I'll try to answer. I will also publish a tutorial on how to romanticise your life with K-On, and possibly Nichijou.
