First things first: remember that what actually matters is the content of your notes. It's better to have ugly but useful notes rather than useless aesthetic notes. Just make sure they are legible first, so if you have an issue with your handwriting, work on it.

To achieve nice effects, it's best to use a black pen. It creates an aesthetic legible contrast.

Besides, I recommend colourful (preferably pastel and bleed-proof) highlighters. However when making a single page, don't use all of the colours. The prettiest notes have one colour theme. You can assign different colours to different subjects or units. 

However before you buy a bunch of new supplies, use the ones you already have, we don't want to waste our money.

To make your notes cuter, if possible, you can decorate them with adorable mini drawings or stickers. If you don't have enough time at school, do it at home.  It can actually help some people through studying!
