Do NOT Regulate SpaceHey

Now that I've got your attention, let me start by saying I agree SpaceHey is a small private project and An can moderate content here anyway he wants. SpaceHey also must comply with local Hate Speech Laws and has its own policies regarding hate speech. There are several platforms that are based in the United States that are centered entirely around free-speech and I understand this is not one of them. However, I'd like to write a word of caution against additional censorship. 

SpaceHey is valued by many of us for being a return to the old internet, one that was infamously unregulated. While it's good to have some moderation to protect minors, the free discussion of ideas creates a far more creative and intellectual people. For example; We all know Nazis exist, but if we don't know what they're saying how can we show that we can defeat their arguments? And if we cannot have these arguments in public, how will the public know that the information presented by Nazis is discreditable? Pushing everyone into echo-chambers, where they only hear people of the same beliefs speak, seems to only worsen the issue.

With that being said, I have not come across any Nazis on Spacehey, although I do not doubt that they're out there. This leads me to believe that the vast majority of people being accused of "nazism" are actually just conservatives who have been routinely censored online. I know this because I have been suspended from almost every major social media platform, and if you look at my past blog posts you'll see that I've never promoted violence or hatred. Maybe this is by mistake, but I would hate to see arbitrary bans and algorithmic censorship work its way onto SpaceHey. 

It's also worth noting that SpaceHey is known for valuing privacy, and as we've seen on other social media platforms, privacy quickly gets thrown out the window once people start demanding more immediate moderation. Once again, something I hope SpaceHey does not follow.

Knowing that the vast majority of SpaceHey is left-leaning minors (and I'm not saying this as an insult) I understand that this may not be a popular opinion. However as a believer in free-speech, I felt that it was important to speak my piece.
