2022 poem part 2

you say your job is to provide and protect

while all i have to do is sit pretty and do what im told

if your job is to provide and protect,

why have i not felt safe?

why haven't you provided me with the care i need?

you stole the freedom i didn't have in the first place

you say to keep quiet to keep the peace

but how can there be peace when i've been treated less than human?

you have a say in my body, but have you ever lived in it?

you have the freedom to say what happens after i give birth,

but have you ever felt my pain?

i though your job was to provide and protect.
