yes we are all aware of the nonsensical logic of astrology. like what do you mean the position of the stars gave me a preset personality at birth. i dont buy it.
some people will say that and then say mbti is the shit in the same breath.
brother THEY ARE THE SAME.
i mean theyre not, but theyre both equally fucking stupid. when you really think ab it. honestly you dont even have to think that hard ab it. theyre both arbitrary boxes we group people in, which categorize people with broad stereotypes and traits. not to mention the clear influences of the barnum effect.
personally my favorite archetypical system are hogwarts houses because like, idk man im like neurodivergent or something.
lets not pretend any of that shit has any merit tho, we sound dumb as fuck when we say that. the whole zodiac sign shit and enneagram shit and and mbti shit are just really dedicated fandoms.and thats okay. but me saying any of that is legit is like me saying hogwarts houses are real, at that point i might as well say i believe in magic or manifestation.
hey i looove conceptualizations that dive into human behavior tho. im actually in the mbti fandom myself. im a huuuge fan. its not exactly something that should be applied irl tho. like yeah i type people based on vibes bc like, its not real i can do what i want. but like theres no reason for someone to be like “oh i act this way bc ima gemini” or “oh we didnt get along bc im an intp and theyre an esfj”

i dont have trouble remembering to do things bc im an enfp or a taurus, its bc i have adhd. make it make sense people.
its so weird being as obsessed w personality types as i am and simultaneously having these typa thoughts ab it. horoscopes are still kinda dumb.

i think from a psychological stand point there is SOME truth to zodiacs but not to the extreme as media makes it. you are born with aspects of your personality (can be prone to change) but outside things can influence that like birth order as well as season, although these are small influences there is still merit to the whole zodiac debate. i think alot of what we see about people with certain zodiacs having similar personality traits is actually a subconscious decision. the brain hears that we should behave a certain way because of the "value" zodiac signs have (determined by society) so it then adopts that trait into your personality whether you realize it or not.

I partially agree but to add onto the mbti part I just don't think they're on the same level because mbti can actually give you some general idea of how someone might be based on their thought process while all astrology tells you is where their birthday falls. I have my mbti type in my profile just because I feel weird listing off traits about myself I feel like that's something that should be up for interpretation but I still want people to sort of know what to expect. I do still agree that mbti doesn't tell you everything and definitely doesn't tell you who you can get along with. I use it as an estimating tool more than a concrete category.

idkkk i think astrology has so much depth. like, it's been around for centuries and it spans so much of a human psyche. the more specific and deep you go, the more accurate it gets. i do agree that some people take it too far and can live their life by it, but i don't think its ridiculous to also believe that the cosmos has somewhat an impact on our life. i mean, hey, the moon can control the ocean, and you don't think it affects you in the slightest? (not an attack lol)

yeah plus astrology personalities usually contain traits that lots of people have so they can better relate to whatever sign they have and not feel bad about it (as long as they don't look up the negative personality traits ig).
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks that. Every time astrology is brought up I think about how every sign is described as toxic to the point where I don't even know the difference between almost any of them
