why is the internet so boring lately

or actually maybe it didn’t become boring, maybe it’s just me getting bored of it because my brain wants more and more stimulation from mindlessly watching tiktoks. lately whenever i’m at home the only thing i feel like doing is being on my phone. and i swear, no matter what social media i scroll, it’s all the same everywhere. so boring. i’m losing interest in everything and the only things i feel like doing are lying down, listening to music, maybe sleeping. what do you all do and how do you find anything interesting on the internet?? or how do you pull yourself away from it? how do you get motivation for other things?

no matter how monotonous and repetitive the advice may seem, genuinely, just explore new hobbies. even within the confines of money or a room it should be easily accessible to try drawing, painting, anything like that. buy a $1 recorder and follow some tutorials on youtube and have fun and make noise. try seriously following a zumba video or a yoga routine. read. just do new things! even if it's not for you it's kind of entertaining to watch yourself do dumb and silly things and probably fail pretty badly at all of it. these type of new experiences i think can help open your mind and maybe begin to shape a better grasp on what interests you. once you have that it should be easier to find things online that satisfy your boredom, whether it be videos of a topic, discussion, games, anything. recently i bought a 15 pack pen set and started doodling on it simply because i was bored, and it's fun ! for me personally though, i have found a passion in music and if boredom ever strikes i always have my instruments to fall back to and keep me occupied. hope you find something new x>

this is what the big corporations and tech giants want. we saw this shift happen very blatantly over covid. the algorithms are designed to keep you on their platform and scrolling for as long as you can and makes you miserable and unwilling to have motivation for the interests you once had. definitely want to limit your screen time on those other platforms and find other things that give you that spark back :-)

you’re right, i think if it weren’t for the pandemic tiktok would’ve more or less stayed at the stage of being an app where people just danced, and way fewer people would’ve installed it. and thanks, i need to try doing that, even if it’s just by using the 5-minute rule :))

Absolutely, most platforms gained huge traction over the pandemic. It really makes you question the real motives behind this stuff.

this might not b what ur asking for but maybe u can try reading ?? sounds mean when i say it like that but u can find a lot of book pdfs just out on the internet and read them with an epub reader. and if u wanna branch out into asian webnovels u can check novelupdates. the genres are (in my opinion) more.. whimsical ?? but there are lots of good novels. and a lot of shitty ones too but they can be fun !! and if ur not really into novels u can go for comics. lots of pirating sites for manga, and english comics get uploaded sometimes too. hashtag dont know if thisll help but could b a new hobby !!

oh wow, thanks!! tbh, normally i don’t feel like reading but stuff like that seem to be really engaging! the problem is i gotta start reading the book school assigned us for summer that’s like 660 pages but hopefully i’ll get motivated to read it eventually

omg i totally get that,, maybe u can try setting a goal every week or smtg ?? like 50 pages by friday ?? or if uve got other friends who r reading it too, u could do a book club kinda thing where u share ur thoughts about it at certain milestones so its more like a fun gossip activity rather than a chore yknow. hope ull b able to lock in on it

Honestly, I play games a lot more than just going on the internet. But when I get bored, I just move onto another game. But when I found gaming in general boring and I'm running out of games to play, I just moved on to other hobbies. Just this year, I learned python, switched my Windows computer over to Linux, put a custom OS on one of my old phones, and started collecting recipes (I'd just like to fill my recipe book). I guess the only advice I have is to just move on and don't force the internet to be more fun. idk though, I just like a lot of different things, so I guess that for me.
