I woke up today and decided to make a tortilla de papa.
Not because I had guests. Not because I felt inspired.
Just because my fridge said: “It’s eggs and potatoes or nothing, buddy.”
And nothing… well, I’ve had enough of that.
🥄 Ingredients for One Sad Hero:
-
3 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into thin slices
-
3 eggs (scrambled, like my thoughts)
-
Half an onion, chopped (optional, but it makes me cry less than life does)
-
Olive oil, salt, pepper
-
Courage. Because flipping this thing is a leap of faith.
🔥 Step 1: Fry and Reflect
Heated oil in the pan.
Added the potatoes and onion.
Watched them sizzle and soften.
For a moment, it was comforting.
Like life slowing down enough to let you breathe.
🥚 Step 2: Egg Meets Potato
Drained the potatoes and mixed them with the eggs.
Salt, pepper, a quick stir.
Poured it back into the pan and let it cook on low heat.
Smelled… warm. Like something a functional person might make.
🎢 Step 3: The Flip of Destiny
The moment came.
Plate over the pan. Hands slightly shaking.
One deep breath.
Flip.
It didn’t break.
I almost cried. Not from sadness—
From the shocking realization that sometimes things don’t fall apart.
🍽️ Step 4: Dinner for One, Victory for One
I cut a slice. Ate it hot.
Crispy outside. Soft inside.
It tasted like effort paying off.
And like maybe today didn’t win against me.
đź–¤ Final Thoughts From Omelette-Noah:
Cooking is weird.
It’s just heat, ingredients, and waiting.
But sometimes, it teaches you that if you keep it together long enough…
You can flip something without breaking it.
Even yourself. Maybe.
