Babbling about PegaKitty again.

I'm about to babble more about my mascot, this is originally a twitter thread but with minimal editing to have it make sense on spacehey. this is moreso me talking to myself, but I'm open to thoughts and input!
This character is near and dear to my heart, heck, she IS my heart! So I hope those of you reading will treat her respectfully. She's also featured in a couple of my writing works available on google docs.

While I was in the car ride, I got to pondering "What IS PegaKitty's lineage? Does she come from a certain bloodline? Could her magic feathers have been passed down from one generation to the next? Who could she have gotten them from?"
This is a character I've had for over a decade, and I'm just now thinking about this important detail.

PegaKitty's family are good folks, but they're not really involved in the story in my head. This can be changed easily, however, as I need to rework her backstory because it just reads disrespectfully.

But I'm wondering...could one or both of her parents have been PegaKitties before her?
PegaKitty being a species name, that's right, there's more than one of these little doofuses!

But the thing is, growing wings for the first time, even magic wings, is a process. it's not a finger snap and done deal. you feel it.
Ever see a chicken molt? its gross.

I mean what are the odds of someone taking off their magical wings in order to live an ordinary life?
The solution is easy. Just put the feathers in a box for safekeeping.

With the story however, PK gains her wings when she realizes her power of making anybody smile no matter what. Its a symbol of growth.

But how does one incorporate that, exactly...

PK getting wings is a similar process in a pony earning their cutie mark like in Friendship is Magic.
But I wanna go about the whole thing...a touch more realistically...
