Mabon (Autumn Equinox)

Mabon is celebrated this year on the 21st of September! It is the Autumn Equinox and the second harvest of the year. During this time day and night meet in perfect harmony symbolizing balance. This is also the last harvest before winter starts!! The sabbat is an oppurtunity to reflect and show gratitude for the harvest season and give thanks for all that was harvested.

Mabon invites us to connect with the abundance around us, not just food but relationships and people. In the old times most people had wine to celebrate teh harvest along with making it an offering. Of course you dont have to but it may be a good way to connect with your dieties or fellow withces.

Now what about your altar and what to do for the day of the equinox?

  1. Redo your altar and add offerings or new decor. Apples, pumpkins, leaves, grapes, grain, anything you harvested yourself too is all good for your altar. Candles in orange red and brown also correspond with the holiday.

  2. Make a pie like last holiday with your harvest! Or any kind of cooking and feast with your harvest and such. Or even a feast with friends, family, or your coven!

  3. Go on a walk with nature, as it gets colder walks may be less likely to happen.

  4. You can do a release ritual to release the old energies and negativity for the new holiday.
