The Superman movie is the perfect movie for our current times and i loved it

So, i literally just got back from the theater and i ran to my computer so fast because this movie spoke to me and was so refreshing and made me feel a little better about the current situation.

So, first things first, this movie was so punk rock- like im serious- Superman and Lois talk about punk bands and Superman is like "I'd argue that i am punk because i believe in love and yada yada i just blanked on the quote while typing this" and then the mighty crabjoys thing was really fun to. But it was also anti-government and anti-billionares and anti-war and could absolutely be interpreted as an allegory for israel and Palestine and i really loved that. I also find the fact that supporters of genocide were upset at this movie because it didn't support them supporting genocide, when i saw that crowd was upset about it i KNEW this movie was going to be good.

Superman's beliefs and outlook on life and the internal struggle he had to face while learning that his planet and own parents were not who he thought they were and that they actually would have stood against his actions was so painfully relatable. There is a scene in the beginning (?) of the movie where lois is interviewing him as Superman and is coming at him for getting involved in politics and world issues and how it wasn't his place and they go back and forth for a while until he yells "PEOPLE WERE GOING TO DIE." (for like, the twentieth time, but just louder) and it made me super emotional because i have been in that exact argument with people many times and got a little pissed at her for not listening to him. Superman learning that his family were not all he thought they were and going to his adopted parents about it and realizing that he did not need that message to make him a good person because his actions alone did that was also very nice.

I will also mention that i loved how straight up evil Lex was, he was just SO easy to hate and i was overjoyed when Krypto beat the shit out of him near the end. At the same time however, i really liked how irredeemable he was because i hate billionares and would have found him irredeemable by that alone, but they made him SOOO damn evil that i was actually upset he didn't die, he did get called a bald ass in his final scene though so i guess that helps. Part of the plot being him starting war and conflict for money was also very cool to see on the big screen and i wish they repeated it even more than they did because i'm sure half of the people in the room still did not  get it. The only part i did not like about the end of the movie was that Superman never got to show back up to protect the people he protected again, having the kids hold that flag up and almost die to not even have him show up even at the end was a little unsatisfying, but i also realize that there was literally a giant rip in the fabric of reality he needed to take care of or whatever. I do also like that Hawkgirl just straight up killed the leader guy too (do not ask me to remember names or anything from this movie until i watch it again) but it was kind of insane but also it was deserved and i probably would have done it too..

I also have never liked basically every side character in a movie, especially not characters that i didn't like at the beginning of the movie, like the one girlfriend lady that at the end was able to escape an abusive relationship without remaining in the pocket dimension for the rest of her days. Guy Gardner was almost unredeemed to me just because of his fuck ass haircut though, also wait wasn't that guy in the rookie??? (My little brother watches that show??? I think its really lame cop propaganda but its kinda random that hes there too???)

I will end off by focusing on Superman, Clark Kent, and his humanity. I cannot express how refreshing it was to watch a superhero movie and not be taken out of it because in every fight like a shit ton of civilians probably die, Clark literally saves EVERYONE and EVERYTHING- Saving the squirrel was so sick and i lowkey wanted to cheer because i would do the same if i could. I could also bring up the argument him and lois had again (and trust me, i would love to bring it up again) but i will refrain. I also appreciate how he wants to help the one creature from like the middle of the movie and study it and learn all about it, it also hurt MY feelings when they just straight up killed it, i get it superman i do. And i guess finally, because its the only other thing that stuck in my head, the end where he talks about how it shouldn't matter that he's an alien because he has humanity and he loves and he gets scared and hopeless and all the other things was super nice to have even if it felt a little shoved in where it didn't fit, but it did need to be said so i will absolutely cut it some slack, the back and forth between him and Lex was all really cliche in that scene anyways.

In conclusion, Superman is punk rock and he is just like me (minus the super powers and being locked in a jail in the pocket dimension and being from another planet and- you get it) and i love how human and loving and wonderful and beautiful this movie was. And i hope that DC sues the white house for posting our orange disgrace of a president as Superman, because everything he stands for is the complete opposite of what that movie even meant, Superman would probably beat him half to death if he was real (and i know i should get over it because it is literally just rage bait but i like being a little stubborn sometimes when it comes to complaining about the government) I know that nothing i write can do enough justice to this movie as i am just a mere journalistic writer for a school newspaper who hasn't written anything about movies ever, but just know that if you have not seen this movie i think you should and i think you should go watch it 50 times for me.
