The final for Bananza was quite the hype trip. I did get youtube thumbnail spoiled with a minor enemy spoiler, but since the game was forshadowing his return with the earlier enemies the entire time, it didn't kill the hype. Plus, there were other cool showing that surprised me.
When I say this was a hype trip, I meant it in the sense that was the goal independent from my feelings. The whole thing used every trick in the book to get the player excited; constantly flipping the script with twists to snowball the hype even further. I'm glad I'm not one of those people online who would be a nuance to neighbors because of a video game, but I was having a lot of feelings on the inside regardless. I think the hype based approach does make the ending a bit weak in it's own merits if a player doesn't have the same feelings, but I think it was fun regardless. Although, if someone weren't to get the message with some of the music that plays, then I'll be a bit confused and curious.
That's all fun and dandy, but there is one more thing I want to show. They actually expanded the lore a bit for the BBEG. One of the things that can appear on the loading screen is some text talking about how he prefers to eat rotten bananas over frsh which fits really well with his antagonist ambition shaping the final fight as well.
That's about it. Wasn't expecting to write this whole thing without needing to name drop the reveal. If anyone has already spoiled themselves so much already, they have one last chance to see for themselves. I wouldn't say it's worth a whole Switch 2 and game, but I don't see how anyone can match Nintendo. Maybe Silksong or other indies might be able to. Who knows.
