STORY TIME WITH DAVE
You know it seems like a lot happened in my life in 2017. I started a band that eventually failed before it had a chance, kinda ashamed of this but I lost my virginity, my ex miscarried, and I was inside of building when it caught on fire...
The fire was on March 27th, 2017 and I'm still going to court because of the fines I got from it. See being at the wrong place at the wrong time is a bitch and I learned that the hard way. The people I was hanging out with that day accused me of dumping cologne everywhere in the building before the fire. Apparently one of my friends at the time was playing with matches and dropped one thinking it went out. I was 16 then and my attorney convinced me to take a plea deal... I was fuckin dumb and went along with it.
I would've got a felony, but I chose to go to military school and got it dropped down to a misdemeanor which since I was a minor my case was sealed and not even the military could open it. I got hit with a $10,000 fine though which I've been paying on as much as I could throughout the years, but I haven't been able to pay for a bit due to Covid, Bills, and raising a child.
It's current 2:23 AM as I'm writing this and I have court at 8:30 AM . It's a checkup, but due to the fact that I haven't been able to make a payment in a while I'm honestly terrified. This can go good or this can go bad. Here are a few possibilities of what can happen.- I could get a warning and a time limit to make a payment.
- I could end up back on probation, which I've happily been off of for a year.
- I could get arrested for not making a payment.
Which I don't understand that last part...
"Oh you didn't make a payment, because you said you haven't been able to lately."
"Yeah.."
"Alright, so we'll give you jail time and another fine."
BECAUSE I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO PAY ON MY FINE, YOU GIVE ME ANOTHER?!
Yeah that's the bullshit of our court system here. Plus it doesn't help that the judge hates my family. I used to get bullied just because of my last name. People actually said calling someone my last name was an insult...
I'm really hoping things go good today, the judge may be a bit lenient, because I have a nine month old. I'm really hoping so...

I’m sorry about your position. I’m hoping for the best possible outcome for you.
It’s a shame that things seem to be set up to keep everyone in the same shitty situations... I also think that a fine for not paying a fine is fucked up and it happens all the time
Usually honesty is the best policy and if you truly haven’t been able to do it and there is a good reason why be honest and let your good character shine through.

Thank you. I just think it's stupid. I was at the wrong place at the wrong time and the people I thought were my friends stabbed me in the back and told the detective that I caused the fire. Even though I was on another floor when the fire started.
