i avidly and desperately want to rip my face off
life is moving way too fast for me to keep up. i feel like i'm simultaneously running out of time and yet too young to experience anything. why does 17 have to be the most transitional age?
i would like to be an adult now, please.Β

I wish there was a way to make this easier, but honestly it's just part of the process- The boredom, the anxiousness, they're growing pains. You can't really skip past them, because this part of your life comes with a lot of formative experiences and life lessons- Learning to rise above the mundanity, learning to let go of some things and people you've known and loved, and understanding that everything you've been through so far is only a fraction of the life you're going to live. It's definitely not fun, but it is important, and it is temporary. (Ew let me get off my soapbox- My point is that you won't feel this way forever, just gotta hold on a bit longer.)

transitional periods are extremely difficult. as a fellow 17 y/o, i can only offer some experiences of my own.
for me, the trials and tribulations of 17 fit roughly into the following categories:
- everyone expecting you to be an adult while treating you like a child,
- you expecting adult life to be that much better than child life,
- discovering that most institutions like education and religion really didn't prepare you for adulthood,
- losing connections, and
- obtaining more challenging responsibilities, like finance.
the first two you just have to tough through, but it's good to get used to the idea that expectations are insignificant. the middle one is a minor inconvenience. the last two suck.
if you think about it though, all of your life thus far has been one long transitory period, just one that is constantly accelerating. all i might say is to cope, to find things and people that you love, and pursue them adamantly in the face of despair. be stubborn in that way.
