Nature is so fucking beautiful.

I've always for as long as i can remember loved nature in all forms, the insects, the weather, the animals, the plants, the forests, the water, all of it. But last night, while on the 12 hour portion of my family's 18 hour car ride, it hit me in a way it hasn't in a short while.

 I suppose i can blame it on the passing of my great grandfather, who was THE nature guy and taught me so much about what i love, it hit me so hard i was fighting back tears for the last hour and a half of the ride. It was dark, and there were lightning bugs as a far as the eye could see, just flashing in and out of view as we sped by, in the middle of nowhere in illinois. There were fireworks off in the distance in every direction and the moon was as bright as i've seen it in so long, but those lightning bugs were unreal.

 Now that might sound a little silly, but where i live we don't have lightning bugs, i've never ever seen one unless i was on this trip which was rarely ever. Now i want to know every single thing about these guys because they're so interesting (and so adorable too bro look them up) I have also decided finally that entomology might be the right course for me in the future, in part to keep that love of nature alive for my great grandfather, but also because insects are seriously some of my favorite things in the world.
