In an effort to salvage whatever's left of my mental health, I recently decided to splurge on art supplies, and essentially force myself back into painting + drawing. (I spent $89 USD at Michael's Craft Store lol.)
— My mental and emotional wellbeing have not been good for a long time. We're approaching the 1-year anniversary of a very traumatic event in my life, and my nervous system feels like a pot that's about to boil over.
One of the first projects I completed was a small watercolor painting of my deer fursona. The second project was this triceratops I made for my dear friend who is currently on vacation. She is obsessed with this species, and I'm hoping she'll enjoy the surprise when she comes back next week.
I understand it's wonky and imperfect, and I am open to receiving constructive criticism. But I'm also trying to be gentle on myself because I am very un-practiced with this medium... and making art in general. I'm challenging myself to make art at least once per week. I think that's a manageable goal.
